The Adur Recreation Ground is a large green park close to the town centre and has regular boot sales, festivals, fairs, and mini car racing. Also great for dog walking and access to the River Adur. Free parking and children’s play area and climbing wall.
Adur Ferry Bridge
High Street / Lower Beach Road
The iconic Adur Ferry Bridge opened in 2013 with glass sides allow for sensational views of the River Adur, boats and birds. The quickest route from town to beach on foot and cycle.
With an easy access beach boardwalk, dog friendly and adorned with wildflowers, this beach makes for a perfect stroll along the coast. Take time to sunbath, swim, picnic, and enjoy water sports, there is always space to relax and enjoy.
Shoreham Houseboats
A large and quirky collection of houseboats that first appeared in 1920 are situated along the river side. With converted barges, tugs and even an old minesweeper, many are inhabited by local writers, artists, and craftspeople.
Shoreham Fort
Also known as Kingston or Shoreham Redoubt, at the east end by the harbour entrance is the Shoreham Fort built in 1857. This is an important example of experimental fortification, using what is known as a Carnot Wall. They were built directly after the introduction of the ‘rifled’ gun barrels on the continent.
Century St Mary de Haura Church
The 11th Century St Mary de Haura church in the heart of town has some spectacular architecture with music and various community events held regularly where you can appreciate the building’s great acoustics.
Marlipins Museum
The Marlipins Museum in the High Street with its chequerboard front is the oldest secular building in Sussex. It tells the story of Shoreham as a large port; it’s fishing and film industries and has some fascinating finds among its collections.
Shoreham Memorial & Toll Bridge
This memorial is created with 11 personalised arches representing each of the persons that perished in the Shoreham Air Disaster in 2015. Situated next to old Toll Bridge that is the last of its kind in Sussex and one of the last of its kind anywhere in the world. The wooden bridge was first opened to public traffic in March 1782 and later restored in 2008.
Shoreham Airport
Commonly known as Shoreham Airport, Brighton City Airport is an art deco, Grade II listed building. It is the oldest continuously licensed airport in the UK and is a perfect gateway to the south coast of England, or a visit to discover the history, enjoy a drink or dine at the fabulously popular Hummingbird Restaurant with stunning views across the airfield.
